Windows 11 build 22623.746 is a build of Windows 11 2022 Update. It was released to a subset of Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on 13 October 2022 as the KB5018863 enablement update to build 22621.746 (KB5018490) for new features included, which may not be enabled by default and instead be rolled out.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

The new "Show hidden icons" experience, previously re-introduced in build 22623.730, has been rolled out to a subset of users.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

The ms-appinstaller URI that works for the Microsoft Desktop App Installer has been enabled.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was slowing down the indexing progress when using Windows Search service.
  • Fixed an issue where the gesture to slide the Start menu open from the bottom of the screen using touch might stop following user's finger.
  • Fixed an issue where right-clicking app icons in the system tray was unexpectedly making the taskbar dismiss if system tray updates is enabled.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

The audio may stop working in certain cases.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • If the system tray updates is enabled, dragging system tray icons may cause explorer.exe to crash.
  • On some machines, when upgrading to this build, the Start menu may become unresponsive. Uninstalling some updates may resolve the issue, but some features may fail to initialize.
  • The ability to show the Search entry point next to the Widgets entry point, initially introduced in build 25217.1000, may be accidentally enabled, resulting Search to crash repeatedly. These changes can be disabled by disabling the 40887771 velocity ID.
  • The wording change on the Start menu, initially introduced in build 25197, may be accidentally enabled, resulting Start menu to crash

Tablet-optimized taskbar[edit | edit source]

  • The taskbar may sometimes flash when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar may take longer than expected to transition to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar may sometimes stay stuck in the expanded state instead of dismissing to collapsed state when using the bottom right edge gesture to see Quick Settings.
