Windows 11 build 22623.730 is a build of Windows 11 2022 Update. It was released to a subset of Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on 29 September 2022 as the KB5018863 enablement update to build 22621.730 (KB5017385) for new features included, which may not be enabled by default and instead be rolled out.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Taskbar[edit | edit source]

  • The tablet-optimized taskbar feature, previously re-introduced in build 25193, has been added. This feature can be toggled on manually by enabling the 26008830 velocity ID.
    • To enable this feature on all devices (including non-touchscreen devices), enable the velocity ID and merge the following registry entry:

  • The unified hitboxes for Win32 system tray icons and the "show hidden icons" flyout, previously re-introduced in build 25193, has been added.
    • Alternatively, the new "show hidden icons" experience, which introduced in build 25211, can be enabled in this build as well by enabling the 38764045 velocity ID.

File Explorer[edit | edit source]

  • The ability to populate full search results while typing, previously re-introduced in build 25201, has been added.
  • The search in Home page has been updated to show more recently opened Microsoft 365 cloud files as well as recent file activity for cloud files in details view.
  • The ability to search Microsoft 365 cloud files by using additional file properties, such as file location, extension, and activity, has been added.

  • Fixed an issue that affects some processors, which occurs when turning on Hyper-V and kernel Direct Memory Access protections.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Microsoft Japanese IME's text reconversion to fail when using some third-party virtual desktops.
  • Fixed an issue that might cause an application to stop responding when the input queue overflows.
  • Fixed an issue that stops users from signing in to various Microsoft Office 365 apps.
  • Fixed an issue that affects graphics drivers that use d3d9on12.dll.
  • Fixed issues that cause updates to the Microsoft Store to fail.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the LanmanWorkstation service to leak memory when mounting a network drive.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Miracast UI to close too soon sometimes when casting to devices that use the DeviceObjectType:Aep.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the width size of the font of three Chinese characters to be appear wrong when formating these characters as bold.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing IME from Microsoft and third parties that uses Windows Text Services Framework 1.0 to stop working when closing the IME window.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Microsoft Edge IE mode to stop from opening webpages when Windows Defender Application Guard is enabled and Network Isolation policies are not configured.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the titles of pop-up windows and tabs are wrong when Microsoft Edge is in IE Mode.
  • Fixed an issue that stops the credential UI from displaying in IE mode.
  • Fixed an issue that affects certificate mapping. When it fails, lsass.exe might stop working in schannel.dll.

Tablet-optimized taskbar[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing the taskbar to flash due to changes in the system tray in non-tablet-optimized scenarios.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing parts of the taskbar or its icons like search to get stuck in the wrong theme's colors when switching between light and dark themes.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Date and time to get stuck cutting off on the side of the screen from system tray changes.

Start menu[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue which was causing Start menu crashes.
  • Fixed an issue where the Start menu Recommended section might unexpectedly show one column instead of two.
  • Fixed an issue when changing the app associated with a particular file type, the icon for any of those file type displayed won't update in the Recommended section.

Task Manager[edit | edit source]

Fixed an issue that was causing Task Manager to stop working when switching between light and dark mode or changing the accent color.

Tablet-optimized taskbar[edit | edit source]

  • The taskbar may sometimes flash when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar may take longer than expected to transition to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • Using the left or right edge gestures may cause the Widgets or Notification Center (respectively) to overlap with or look truncated by the taskbar.
  • The taskbar may sometimes stay stuck in the expanded state instead of dismissing to collapsed state when using the bottom right edge gesture to see Quick Settings.
  • The taskbar may sometimes collapse unexpectedly when there are no running windows on the desktop.
