Windows 11 build 22623.1020 is a build of Windows 11 2022 Update. It was released to a subset of Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on 28 November 2022 as the KB5018863 enablement update to build 22621.1020 (KB5020035) for new features included, which may not be enabled by default and instead be rolled out.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • The new Spotlight theme under the Personalization page, previously rolled out in build 25169, has been added.
  • The changes to the spelling dictionary to use a language-neutral word list that will sync across all devices (toggle via Accounts > Windows backup > Remember my preferences > Language preferences), previously rolled out in build 25231, have been implemented.
  • The support for new Braille displays and input/output languages in Narrator under Accessibility > Narrator > Braille has been introduced.[1]
  • The new cloud storage quota bar under System > Accounts, initially available in build 25247, has been added.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing Settings app to not open a page under the Accounts page.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing certain applications to stop working when useing keyboard shortcuts to change the input mode for the Japanese IME.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing CNO or VCO passwords from resetting properly with the error message "There was an error resetting the AD password… // 0x80070005."
  • Fixed an issue that was causing certain applications to stop responding when opening the Open File dialog.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing high CPU usage when opening a file in File Explorer.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's automated investigation to block live response investigations.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the authentication level for all non-anonymous activation requests from DCOM clients to automatically raise to RPC_C_AUTHN_LEVEL_PKT_INTEGRITY if it was below Packet Integrity.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing microphone streams that used the Listen To feature to route to the speaker endpoint to stop working after the device is restarted.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing File Explorer to stop working when closing context menus and menu items.

The audio may stop working in certain cases.

Tablet-optimized taskbar[edit | edit source]

  • The taskbar may sometimes flash when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar may take longer than expected to transition to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.

Task Manager[edit | edit source]

  • Filtering by publisher name may not match correctly on the Processes page.
  • Some services may not show in the Services page after filtering is applied.
  • If a new process is starting while a filter is set, then that process may appear for a split second in the filtered list.
  • Some dialogs may not render in the correct theme when applied from the Settings page.
  • The data content area of the Processes page may flash once when theme changes are applied in the Settings page.
  • The Task Manager may not display light and dark content correctly with unreadable text when the "Choose your mode" option under Personalization > Colors in the Settings app is set to Custom.
