Windows 10 build 14342 (rs1_release) is the fourteenth Insider Preview build of Windows 10 Anniversary Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring on 10 May 2016, and later released to Windows Insiders in the Slow Ring on 18 May 2016.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- Extensions in Microsoft Edge can now be downloaded directly from the Windows Store. Extensions had to be extracted and loaded from a local folder in older builds.
- Microsoft Edge now supports real-time web notifications.
- Updated the Windows Ink Workspace icon.
- Added support for the dark theme on the User Account Control prompts.
- Action Center now supports middle clicking to dismiss notifications.
- Improvements to Feedback Hub.
- File Explorer was pinned back to the taskbar by default.
- Windows Defender received a new icon.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- Feedback Hub is not localized. As a result, regardless of language, Feedback Hub will be always in US English.
- Feedback Hub takes about 20–30 minutes after updating to this build to download and hydrate itself. If Feedback Hub is not fully hydrated, mini-survey notifications won't take you anywhere, search won't work, and if you go to Feedback Hub from another app, Feedback will not open.
- In some localized versions of this build, the All apps list on the Start menu appears to be empty. A workaround is to use search to launch apps.
- You may see square boxes in certain apps when using some of the new emojis.
- PCs with Intel HD Graphics 3000 or Intel HD Graphics 2000 may experience graphical glitches and instability with Microsoft Edge. You can get around it temporarily by using software rendering instead of GPU rendering. It can be set by going to Internet Options, selecting the Advanced tab and checking the "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering" option.
