New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Taskbar[edit | edit source]

This build uses a monochrome Microsoft icon for the start button image; whenever it's hovered, it turns into a colorful Microsoft logo. Additionally, right clicking on the taskbar now shows a small Taskbar settings menu with various personalization options, such as alignment, app sorting and running indicator.

Furthermore, the taskbar has been enhanced with the ability to display and pin icons to it. As part of this change, a context menu can be brought up when right clicking an application's icon, which shows options to pin or close the specified application.

A feature unique for builds from this stage of development is the ability to change the alignment of the taskbar, which can be set in the Taskbar settings option mentioned above. The feature was later removed and wouldn't reappear again until the development of Windows 11.

A running indicator (known as "Pill" in the Taskbar settings menu) has been added, which can be set from the aforementioned menu. It is shown as a blue line in the bottom of an application icon.

Start menu[edit | edit source]

The start menu has been updated to no longer include the current user account name, and the account picture size has been reduced. Start menu icons no longer have a background.

Applications[edit | edit source]

Many applications have been added, which includes but not limited to Xbox, Remote Desktop and Microsoft Solitaire Collecton.

Debug menu (Win+D)[edit | edit source]

The debug menu has been updated to show the users' IP address; if not found, the menu will state "unknown ip address".

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • The out-of-box experience may be skipped during new installation.
  • Resizable windows is now supported whenever the single screen composer is enabled, due to the merging of Windows Lite (JTR) and Windows 10X (CDG).
  • Task View now works properly, after being broken in the previous build.
