Visual Studio 6.0 (codenamed Aspen) is the second major version of Visual Studio, released on 2 September 1998. This is the last release compatible with Windows 9x operating systems, the last to include Visual J++, and the last to not use the .NET Framework; the bundled version of Microsoft Visual C++ is 12.xx.
