Ubuntu 17.10 is a version of Ubuntu that released on 19 October 2017 under the codename of "Artful Aardvark". This version drops support for x86 architecture in desktop versions, and replaces Unity with GNOME 3. It is the first version of Ubuntu to use the Wayland display protocol by default, but due to issues, it would be reverted to X.Org in 18.04. It would not be re-enabled until 21.04.
