Ubuntu 18.04 is a version of Ubuntu released on 26 April 2018 under the codename "Bionic Beaver". This is the seventh Long Term Support release of Ubuntu. This release introduces GNOME 3 as the default shell in place of Unity for the standard Ubuntu flavor, following Canonical decision to back off the development of Unity 8 and Mir.
