Linux Mint 12 is a version of Linux Mint, which was released to the public on 26 November 2011. It is based on Ubuntu 11.10.
This release is the last version to include the LXDE and GNOME desktop environments, as Cinnamon would be added in the next version. Additionally, it is the first release since Linux Mint 8 to require the user to enter a username and password. The old functionality would be restored in Linux Mint 16.
