Linux Mint 16 is a version of Linux Mint, which was released to the public on 30 November 2013. It is based on Ubuntu 13.10.

This release updates Cinnamon to version 2.0, which adds sound effects. It also adds a user applet in the tray, which allows users to easily perform tasks such as logging off, shutting down and managing their user account. Edge-tiling and snapping was improved with this version. As well, MIME handling was improved. The tray was updated to support file operations. It updates the login screen to have an animated background. It also updates the Software Manager to include multiple screenshots. As with Linux Mint 15, this version inherits the boot screen from Linux Mint 8, albeit without the flashing logo.
