Windows XP build 2600 is the official RTM build of Windows XP, which was released on 24 August 2001. PC manufacturers could sell PCs with XP pre-installed on 24 September 2001. The RTM build became generally available on 25 October 2001 with two main versions: Home Edition and Professional. It had kernel version 5.1 (2000 was version 5.0 and Neptune was 5.50). There is also a version of this build for Intel Itanium 64-bit processors.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- A zero day activation bug may occur if installed on the current date. Attempting to activate will result in no installation ID being generated, making it impossible to activate by normal means, unless you update to Service Pack 2.
