Windows XP build 2462 is the official Beta 2 release of Windows XP released to testers on 19 March 2001 and the public on 26 March. This build was released in both checked and free variants, along with various languages alongside with MUI packs. An IA-64 build has existed as well according to a German tech news magazine, however except for being provided to a selected group of testers it has never seen a public release and remains unleaked.

- The discs containing the Personal SKU are already labeled "Windows XP Home Edition", despite the term "Home Edition" appearing later in build 2465 inside of the OS.
- The IA-64 build did not support running x86 applications according to the release notes. It is unknown why this limitation was in place.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
The startup sound may not play when logging in.
