Windows Server 2025 build 25931.1000 is an Insider Preview build of Windows Server 2025. It was released to Windows Insiders on 16 August 2023, along with its client counterpart.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- The timebomb has been extended from 15 September 2023 to 15 September 2024.
- A new "Azure Arc Setup" stub app has been added for downloading and installing Azure Arc right from the operating system. It's only available to Windows Server with desktop experience.
- Starting from this build, NetBIOS\WINS\mailslot-based methods for domain controller discovery will be disabled by default. This behavior can be manually reverted with the BlockNetBIOSDiscovery Group Policy setting.
- DC locator will automatically download additional information about the child domains in trusting forests and use that information as part of the discovery algorithm.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Archiving eventlogs with wevtutil al command may cause the Windows Event Log service to crash, and the archive operation to fail.
