New features and changes[edit | edit source]
SKUs[edit | edit source]
This release comes with two user interfaces, these are the normal SKUs, which have a typical desktop, and "Core" versions of these SKUs, which are missing many programs, lack a GUI and they use a command-line shell based on Command Prompt instead.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
- This is the first available build of Windows Server to require ACPI support, as it is required by the new boot loader and trying to start Windows on a non-compliant system results in an error.
- The copyright date of
winver.exehas been updated from 2003 to 2005. This persists up to Windows Server 2008 builds 5284 and 5310.
