New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Control Panel[edit | edit source]
Networks are no longer categorized by overall speed in the Network Connections Control Panel applet, and it is no longer possible to manually configure driver update settings via the System Properties applet.
Server Manager[edit | edit source]
A new link pointing to the Microsoft Update Catalog has been added to the home page's Resources and Support section, and a visual indicator for the current participation status in Windows Error Reporting telemetry and the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program has been implemented.
Diagnostics tools[edit | edit source]
The Reliability Monitor has been removed from the operating system.
Windows Firewall with Advanced Security[edit | edit source]
Links to documentation are no longer present at the bottom of the home page. It is now possible to enable firewall protection for specific network adapters, and computer- and user-specific connection authorization rules have been added to Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) settings. A custom security certificate can no longer be defined as an authentication method in firewall rules and within IPsec settings. Connection security rules can now have specific networking protocols and address ports assigned to specific endpoints, as long as an applicable protocol type is defined. Rule exemptions and authorization requirements can now be applied against connections made through an IPsec network tunnel.
Settings for secured connections during inbound/outbound rule creation have been placed into a separate dialog. Encrypted connections can now use null encapsulation, and both computer parties can now dynamically negotiate an existing connection.
Connected networks are now displayed in the Firewall Monitor.
Hyper-V[edit | edit source]
The unsupported system requirements dialog has been reworded to use simplified language, and finalized resources for localization, icons and dialogs are now present in the Hyper-V snap-in - as a result, the pre-release warning has been removed from both the installation notes and from the respective snap-in. Support for manually specifying user credentials other than the default is now included in the hypervisor.
Virtual machines now support dynamic memory allocation with up to five levels of memory conversation, with higher levels pertaining to a more aggressive form of conservation.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
- The XPS Viewer application has been added.
- The .NET Framework has been updated to version 3.5.1.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- This build refers to itself by the codename of its predecessor in its default Boot Configuration Data entry.
