Windows Server 2008 R2 build 6608 is the earliest available and the official Milestone 2 build of Windows Server 2008 R2. Prior to its leak, a single image of this build's login screen was shown in a blog post made by a Microsoft employee,[1] although it has since been deleted. The partial contents of the blog post, however, were archived on other websites.[2]
Components from the x64 version of this build were found on the Microsoft Symbol Server on 19 June 2022, and the build itself was shared on 14 September 2024 along with its x64 client counterpart.
Changes[edit | edit source]
- Changed the branding in most places from "Windows Server 2008" to the OS codename, Windows Server 7, although the watermark still refers to it as Windows Server 2008.
- Windows PowerShell has been removed as an optional feature - it is now a part of the base install, and has been upgraded from Version 1 to Version 2.
