- It is the earliest available build that refers to itself by its final name.
- It is the first build to introduce the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration feature.
- This build changes the "Classic Start Menu" image in Taskbar properties from the one seen in XP to the one seen in the RTM build of Windows Server 2003.
- The copyright date in the Command Prompt has been updated from 1985–2002 to 1985–2003.
- The boot menu entry was renamed from "Windows .NET Server, [SKU Name]" to "Windows Server 2003, [SKU Name]".
winver.exehas the content now centered, as opposed to being aligned to the right in the previous builds.
