Windows Phone 7 build 6176 is the official Release Candidate 1 build of Windows Phone 7. The unlocked ROM was shared on 30 April 2010.[1]
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Applications[edit | edit source]
- The Phone app for simulating phone calls thru a Fake GSM network has been added.
- The Mail setup app has been renamed to Email setup.
- Various apps that link to specific settings pages, such as Airplane Mode, Bluetooth, Cellular Data, Picture Camera CPL and others have been removed.
- The Calendar's app icon background now has the current accent color instead of gray by default.
- A new icon for the Camera app has been added.
- The Convert app has been removed.
- The Email setup app icon's background is now the current accent color instead of gray.
- An icon for the Marketplace icon has been added.
- The Microsoft Office app has been renamed to Office and had it's icon added.
- The People app had it's icon added.
- The Pictures app had it's icon added.
- The Zune app has been renamed to music + video.
Alarms[edit | edit source]
- Opening the Alarms app now opens the Saved Alarms menu instead of New Alarm when no alarms are present.
- The design of the app has been completely overhauled, introducing new fonts, changing the background color and more changes to fit the general style of the operating system.
- Alarm Sounds have been renamed to
Alarm-0x
where x is the number of the alarm sound instead of their previous name, such as cascade or flame.
Calculator[edit | edit source]
- The font of the result in the calculator has become slightly brighter compared to the previous version.
- The 0, . and = buttons have been appropriately centered to the rest of the buttons.
Calendar[edit | edit source]
- The Day and Agenda menus no longer loop in the top bar.
- The bottom bar's background color has been changed to a slightly brighter color.
- The options menu's opening and closing animations have become slightly faster, the menu itself became longer, the Exit option has been removed and menu options now use lowercase fonts instead of uppercase.
- In the Manage Calendars menu, the title bar font has become bold, and the DeviceStore option has been renamed to Phone. Additionally, the slider button design has been changed, and the
auto
option has been renamed toautomatic
Camera[edit | edit source]
- The location camera popup has been slightly changed, with it becoming bigger and the buttons becoming smaller and minor spacing between them being left.
- A sample image, showing a green box moving around a red area has been added as the Camera example.
- The design of the camera options and zoom slider has been slightly changed, making the options smaller.
- The dogfooding icon has been made smaller.
- The Automatically share future pictures? popup has been made centered.
- The Assign to Contact and View Album options have been removed from the photo options menu.
- When in Landscape mode, the photo options menu is now also shown in landscape.
Mail Setup[edit | edit source]
- Icons for specific accounts, excluding Facebook, are no longer shown.
- The menu is now shown in light mode instead of dark mode regardless of the user's theme preferences.
Games[edit | edit source]
- When opened, the app starts updating the contents automatically, and shows the Updating text along with loading icons at the top of the screen.
- The Xbox LIVE section has been removed.
- The Get more games in the Marketplace has been removed.
Internet Explorer[edit | edit source]
- The Settings menu has been added.
- By default, no page is now opened instead of
about:blank
. - The page cannot be displayed menu now fits the current resolution instead of being at a set resolution.
Maps[edit | edit source]
- The maps location popup text has become smaller and a privacy statement link has been added, along with the buttons getting smaller.
- The app now shows non-zoomed in by default.
Marketplace[edit | edit source]
- The Marketplace is unavailable is now a popup instead of being full screen and now has a button close the app.
Messaging[edit | edit source]
- The no messages text is now below the conversations text at the top instead of being at the center.
- The three dots icon for the options menu has become smaller.
- The Messaging Settings menu has been slightly changed to fit to fit the style of the operating system.
- The "This is used to send and receive messages" text below the SMS center number has been added.
- The attachment and send message icons have been swapped.
- Messages are now the current accent color instead of gray and the Try again link text is now white instead of orange.
Office[edit | edit source]
- The Title bar has been changed from Word, Excel, PowerPoint Mobile to simply Word, Excel, PowerPoint and is now white instead of red.
- The Documents text has been moved slightly to the right.
- A sample document is now included by default.
- Most in-app icons, such as notes and new document have been changed to fit the general style of the operating system.
- The select sheet menu has been changed to fit the general style of the operating system, such as centering things and making fonts lighter and smaller, and the current selection color is now blue instead of green.
- The Undo and Redo menus have been split and are now grayed out if no actions to undo or redo are available.
- The File menu has been removed and is replaced by Send, Save and Save as menus in the main options menu.
- The Save file menu has been completely overhauled to fit the general style of the operating system.
- The Personalize menu has been changed to have it's title set as "Microsoft Office" instead of "Microsoft Office Mobile", same for the text below it which now says "Personalize your copy of Office" instead of "Personalize your copy of Office Mobile" and the default username is now simply "User" instead of "Office Mobile User".
- The general Office app now has a different background, most text is now Orange instead of White and the app look has been generally improved overall.
- The Delete contact text is now lower-cased instead of being fully-uppercased.
OneNote[edit | edit source]
- The Can't sync popup text has been changed to simply "No Live ID configured on phone" and an option to not automatically sync has been added.

- The import SIM contacts button is no longer grayed out.
- A contact will no longer be saved if you click back while creating it.
Settings[edit | edit source]
- The order of the settings applets has been changed.
- The fonts and spacing of each text has been changed.
- The Ringtones & Sounds applet was slightly changed to fit the general operating system style.
- The Themes settings have been renamed to Theme
- The Theme settings text has been slightly changed.
- The Tell me when new networks are found option has been removed from Wi-Fi settings.
- The background of the Bluetooth settings menu has been changed.
- The turn on to see accessories menu has been added to the Bluetooth menu.
- A text explaining what each option in the data roaming options has been added in the Cellular Data settings.
- The Add & manage accounts menu has been updated to match the style of the operating system.
- The Brightness option is no longer listed in the settings menu if brightness settings are not available.
- The Touch & Keyboard settings have been renamed to Keyboard and now work.
- The System locale and Browser language options have been added to the Region & Language settings.
- The Phone Lock settings have been renamed to Lock & Wallpaper.
- The We capture the location of your phone every few hours text inside of the Find my phone settings has been slightly updated.
- The Zune Privacy Settings link was removed from the About menu.
- The Erase your phone button was renamed to Reset your phone.
- Feedback settings now work.
- Speech settings now work.

The menu has been slightly redesigned to fit the general look of the operating system.
Keyboard[edit | edit source]
The keyboard suggestions box has been longer in size and the keyboard's accent color has been changed to a lighter variant.
Start Screen[edit | edit source]
- The Email setup app is now pinned in the space next to Messaging instead of at the bottom.
- The People app live tile has been overhauled and the bug with it not working sometimes has been fixed
- The Calendar app live time has been fixed.
- The Games app live tile has been removed.
- The Internet Explorer app on the Start Screen has been changed to have a gray background by default instead of the current accent color.
- The Office app is now pinned on the Start Screen by default.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
Unlike build 6077, this build is no longer a Test image, so internal apps (zApps and Speed Type) are no longer present. Despite this however, they are still present as applications inside of the Windows folder, accessible by opening them with ShortCuts.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- Throughout this build, many visual glitches may occur. Due to this, some apps such as Pictures may be completely unusable.
- In certain situations, opening the Settings app may cause the emulator to hang.
