Windows Media Player 6.0 is a version of Windows Media Player.
It is included on the installation media of Windows NT 4.0 SP4 and as an optional component of Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2. It is also present in Beta 2 builds of Windows 2000 starting with build 1796.
New features[edit | edit source]
Compared to the previous version 5.2, a navigation bar has been added below the menu bar. It allows one to switch back or forth to a previous or next file. The Showcase button leads to a now-defunct Microsoft service called "Media Showcase". In conjunction with this, a Go menu has been added to the menu bar, featuring the same actions as the navigation bar.
The application itself is also now referred to as "Windows Media Player" instead of just "Media Player" to avoid confusions with the legacy one.
