Windows 98 SE build 2124 is a beta build of Windows 98 Second Edition, which was shared on BetaArchive on 12 December 2019.[1]
This build interestingly includes a file called osrall.csv
which contains a list of binaries and symbols with paths that appear to be from the 9x source tree. This shows that the IO subsystem drivers were in a dos\dragon
directory in the source tree, possibly a codename.
Unlike earlier and later builds, this one does not require a product key.
Changes[edit | edit source]
- Internet Explorer 5 has been upgraded to version 5.00.2013.0400.
- Outlook Express 5 has been upgraded to version 5.00.2012.2900.
- DirectX Diagnostic Tools have been upgraded to version 4.06.02.0434.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Installation[edit | edit source]
Due to the files in the win98
directory on the installation media being named in lowercase, they cannot be accessed normally from DOS.
Explorer[edit | edit source]
If reaching a system folder which is hidden to protect system files, the warning and link to show these files will occasionally not show up. Pressing F5 will resolve this.
