- The Certificate of Authenticity page of setup has been redesigned and now involves the user to insert the key excluding the dashes and the OEM part.
- Internet Explorer has been updated to the early build 520 of version 3, which still identifies itself as its predecessor. Alongside this, a new Start menu option called "Browse the Web" has been added, which includes links to Microsoft web services and favourites. It was removed in the RTM build. A similar option called "Favourites" is included in the Windows Desktop Update of Internet Explorer 4. It also notably uses the high-color icon from Microsoft Plus!
- An early iteration of the Internet Connection Wizard has been added.
- ActiveMovie has been added.
- The OpenGL-powered 3D screensavers from Windows NT 3.51 have been added.
