Windows 3.1 build 050 is an unleaked build of Windows 3.1, discussed in internal Microsoft e-mails from late September 1991.[1]
The e-mails mainly discuss application compatibility with Windows 3.1 Beta 2, though this particular build is mentioned in relation to SmartDrive (codenamed Bambi) as "Other critical work".
It is also revealed that the development team planned on adding code that would make sure Windows 3.1 would only run on MS-DOS since only MS-DOS and IBM PC-DOS were officially supported. This suggests the infamous AARD code was implemented sometime after Beta 2.
