Windows 11 build 23620 (ni_prerelease) is an Insider Preview build of Nickel, the 22H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel on 25 January 2024.
This is the last Nickel build to be available to Insiders in the Dev Channel after its reboot, as the channel would later receive Windows 11 2024 Update builds starting from 26052.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]
- Fixed an issue that was causing labels like System in the Start menu's all apps list to be cut off if text scaling is above 100%.
- Fixed an issue impacting
explorer.exe
reliability. - Fixed the issue where announcements from the Microsoft Start feed are still shown on the taskbar after the feed is hidden.
- Fixed the issue where spacing and fonts used in some Widget's settings pages were incorrect.
- Fixed an issue impacting Task Manager reliability on the last few Nickel builds.
- Fixed an issue that was causing voice access to crash when setting up new languages.
- Fixed multiple crashes impacting Narrator, including one when trying to add new natural voices.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Copilot[edit | edit source]
When first launching or after refreshing Copilot while using Voice access, users may need to use "Show grid" commands to click in the "Ask me anything" box for the first time.
Widgets[edit | edit source]
Keyboard navigation from the settings subpage back to the top-level settings page may be broken.
Safe mode[edit | edit source]
- Quick Settings and date/time clock on the taskbar may be missing due to the
Capability Access Manager Service
service not running. - Clicking Bluetooth & devices and Personalization pages may crash the Settings app due to an overrun of a stack-based buffer
