Windows 10 build 9926 is the January Technical Preview of Windows 10, released to the public on 2015-01-23. It is the first official build to include features such as Cortana, Continuum, and Office Touch apps. Several apps, including PC Settings, Voice Recorder, Alarms and Xbox received major updates in this build. Many of the features demoed at the 2015-01-21 event were included in this build. Notable missing features include Project Spartan, streaming functionality in the Xbox app and the Outlook Mail and Calendar apps.

The first indications of Microsoft's final edition names have also been included in this build. Cortana is missing several features shown in the demo, most notably the capability to send emails using the assistant. The new XAML-based Start menu included in this build as a replacement for the Direct UI version in 9879 and earlier is also missing key functionality, such as Jump Lists. These missing features have been confirmed as returning in future builds. Observant users will note that the transparency shown in several of the demos at the Jan 21st event is not included in this build.

Build 9926 is the first public build to be from the fbl_awesome1501 build branch, a replacement for fbl_release. It is also the last build from this branch, as the next build has been confirmed to come from the fbl_impressive branch by Gabriel Aul, as of 2015-11-02.
