Windows 10 build 18995.1 is the thirty-first Insider Preview build of Windows 10 May 2020 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring on 3 October 2019.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- You can now login using your Windows Hello PIN in Safe mode.
- Bugfixes to the Windows Subsystem for Linux, updated the Linux kernel version to 4.19.72, and added the ability to specify additional kernel command line parameters via
.wslconfig
.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- Older versions of anti-cheat software for games can cause the PC to crash with a green screen of death.
- Certain 2D apps such as Feedback Hub, Microsoft Store and 3D Viewer are incorrectly treated as having protected content within Windows Mixed Reality. As a result, during video capture, these 2D apps block their content from being recorded.
- While capturing a repro video while filing a bug via Feedback Hub in Windows Mixed Reality, you will not be able to stop the video due to the aforementioned protected content bug mentioned above. If a repro video must be submitted, you must wait five minutes for the recording to time out.
- When using the search bar in either Control Panel or File Explorer, the box may become gray. In this state, the search box does not accept input.
- At the time of this build's release, devices that are configured to dual scan for updates via WSUS and Windows Update weren't offered new builds in the Fast Ring. Selecting Check online for updates from Microsoft Update would make the system check for updates, but would return with the message "Your device is up to date."
- Some devices that are configured to use HDR have a chance of experiencing a blue tint on the device's display when the night light feature is used.
- Theme packs downloaded from the Microsoft Store fail to apply.
- On some configurations, the Settings app either fails to launch when opened from the button on the Start menu, becomes missing from the all apps list, or is absent as a search result. If this happens, use the ⊞ Win+R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command. When the Run dialog box appears, type in
ms-settings:
to open Settings. - After updating to this build, the Windows Update Settings page may show the exact same build needs to be installed.
