Windows 10 build 18970 is the twenty-sixth Insider Preview build of Windows 10 May 2020 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring on 29 August 2019.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Tablet Mode overhaul[edit | edit source]

A new tablet experience for 2-in-1 convertible PCs was rolled out to some Windows Insiders starting with this build. Some changes were made from the default Tablet Mode. These changes include increased spacing between taskbar icons, the search box on the taskbar being collapsed into an icon, a new touch-optimized layout for File Explorer, and the touch keyboard now auto invokes when a text field is selected. Some changes were made to the Tablet section in the Settings app.

Reset this PC[edit | edit source]

Introduced a new cloud download option for Reset this PC. As the name implies, this option downloads a fresh copy of Windows onto the computer from the cloud.

Other changes[edit | edit source]

The notification settings introduced in build 18932 were enabled by default on clean installs starting with this build.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

Older versions of anti-cheat software for games can cause the PC to crash with a green screen of death.
Some Realtek SD card readers do not function correctly with this build.
On certain apps, the minimize, maximize, and close title bar do not work. If you use an affected app, press Alt+F4 to close it.
The text on the devices pages in Settings for “Bluetooth and Other Devices” and “Printers and Scanners” does not render correctly.
Search does not work when you use certain display languages, including Polish. To workaround this issue, switch the language to English, then back to your preferred display language.
The cloud download option will not work if certain optional features are installed. These optional features include EMS and SAC Toolset for Windows 10, IrDA infrared, Print Management Console, RAS Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK), RIP Listener, all RSAT tools, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Windows Fax and Scan, Windows Storage Management, Wireless Display and WMI SNMP Provider.
