Windows 10 build 11078 is the earliest available build of Windows 10 Anniversary Update. The applicable language packs for this build (and associated feature-on-demand packages) were unintentionally published onto Windows Update servers in early December 2015. The full build of the x64 compile was shared on 9 November 2024.

Changes[edit | edit source]

Leak prevention[edit | edit source]

Starting from this build, work on removing the Windows Fingerprinting Service, which was used to fingerprint internal OS builds to prevent leaks, has started. This decision was motivated by the increased relevance of the Windows Insider Program, an initiative allowing volunteering beta testers (referred to as Insiders) access to freshly-compiled Windows development builds from mainline branches.

All code related to checking for the presence of the on-disk fingerprinting hash, the NT catalogs and the blob tampering check routines (as well as displaying the Microsoft Confidential watermark on the desktop and in the Version Reporter Applet) have been removed from the system, although the registry-based blob presence check still remains present in the Windows kernel.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

Language pack installation[edit | edit source]

It is not possible to install language packs on an online image as advanced installers will fail to run during the final stages of the feature staging process. Language packs must be instead be installed offline to work around this problem.

Windows Setup[edit | edit source]

Audit Mode[edit | edit source]

Setup audit mode will break after a system reboot and will treat the system as if it had failed just the installation process, invalidating the current system setup state as consequence.
