New features[edit | edit source]
This build introduces new features that would be publicly announced or added much later during Windows 10 Mobile's development cycle:
Start screen[edit | edit source]
The ability to resize live tiles on the start screen to 4x4 and 4x2 sizes has been added.
Universal Application Platform[edit | edit source]
Several new UI surfaces have been updated or introduced in this build utilizing the new Universal Application Platform. (UAP, later referred to publicly as the Universal Windows Platform/UWP) These UI surfaces are meant to replace the existing Splash / UIX UI surfaces but are mostly available as secondary applications in this build due to the earliness of the implementation of the UAP.
- A new work in progress lock screen has been added in this build. It is not yet used by default and can be invoked by launching the "LockApp.WindowsPhone" start menu entry.
- A brand new Print Dialog has been added in this build for use by UAP applications. A test entry point has been added to invoke it from the start screen as well.
Keyboard[edit | edit source]
The touch keyboard has received a new set of accessibility enhancements such as a knob to position the caret in text fields, or the ability to move it to either sides of the display for easier typing experiences on large screen devices. It is also now possible to hold on the space bar and move the keyboard up and down, undocking it from its fixed bottom position.
File Explorer[edit | edit source]
- A new file explorer has been added to this build. While it remains basic, it notably enables the use of external storage devices.
Misc[edit | edit source]
- USB OTG Support and USB-C support has been added.
- The Microsoft Feedback application has been added in this build for selfhosters internal to Microsoft to file suggestions and issues about the operating system.
