Windows 10 Mobile build 14271 is a pre-release build of Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update, which was released to beta testers in the internal Canary ring via the Windows Update servers as an update from an existing version of Windows 10 Mobile and as a delta for builds 14267.1002 and 14269.[1] The released update packages can be installed via the iutool
utility.
This build brings major updates to parts of the user interface.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Out-of-box experience[edit | edit source]
The default language for the device's currently installed image will now be centered on the first bootup in the language selection screen of the out-of-box experience.
User interface[edit | edit source]
Most of the changes previously seen in build 14262 (rs1_shell_winhub) have been merged into the release branch and as a result can now be seen in this build. The changes merged include the non-disappearing PIN text, and the rearranged internet email account options.
The Phone and Messaging icons used for their respective Start tiles have been enlarged for the Lumia 950 XL phone.
Unlike in previous builds, the Podcasts app can now be installed after a device reset (as previously, it would hang and never finish).
Settings[edit | edit source]
The color of the warning dialogs seen in a variety of applets in the Settings app has been changed from red to yellow. The feedback option in the Feedback & Diagnostics tab of the Privacy applet can also no longer be changed and is now permamently set to automatic.
Due to a new loading system, the performance of opening applets in the Settings app has been significantly improved. When an applet is pressed, the user interface and options are now loaded immediately, with other items needing loading (if present) lagging behind. Prior to this build, selecting an applet would result in the device loading everything at the same time.
Action center notifications can now be turned off for specific applications in the Notifications & Actions applet. The Notification sound popup has also been made shorter as well.
The size of backups and the total space that they're currently occupying on the user's OneDrive is no longer shown in the backup options menu of the Backup applet.
Quirks[edit | edit source]
Sound[edit | edit source]
The unlock and lock sounds have been downsampled from stereo to mono, resulting in a noticeable drop in quality.
