Please stop replacing my uploads because you call them unclean.[edit source]
Mine are clean and legit, even if they have modded drivers (they are still drivers), and it's like telling someone who's using the S3 Trio64 on win3.1 to stop using its drivers and use the standard VGA drivers instead. SA1988 (talk) 21:54, 25 October 2018 (BST)
- You also mention the Guidelines in your edits, but you still add the desktop to screenshots when the guidelines state that you must crop screenshots to their windows if they are representing a specific application.--SArAmTaCoJeSUs (talk) 10:26, 26 October 2018 (BST)
- You (SAATCJSU) should use something other than MSPaint or Google Slides to crop your images. I can see the program bar. --LilShootDawg (talk) 13:32, 26 October 2018 (BST)
- I don't ever use paint or slides to edit images, I always use GIMP, I included the black bar at the bottom on purpose because I thought it was part of the window frames, I'm sorry that I got confused about the borders of the windows and I will fix it soon.--SArAmTaCoJeSUs (talk) 16:34, 26 October 2018 (BST)
Windows 1.x screenshots[edit source]
Hello and welcome to BetaWiki.
I have noticed that you are in the process of replacing CGA screenshots of Windows 1.0 DR5 with HGC ones. While I appreciate your effort, I believe it would be nicer to upload these as new files and then add them alongside the old CGA screenshots to the article's gallery, because the old screenshots do not break any guidelines and they are just as good, even though the CGA has a much lower resolution than the Hercules.
Regarding SA1998's screenshots showing Windows 1.0 Beta with a patched EGA driver, using such drivers certainly isn't forbidden by the Guidelines. In general, screenshots should be as neutral as possible and the screenshot in question is a great example of that.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask in the Community portal or directly contact an administrator on their Talk page. --AlphaBeta (talk) 22:22, 26 October 2018 (BST)
Why did you upload...[edit source]
...another version of DR5-10.png when I fixed it. --LilShootDawg (talk) 19:49, 9 November 2018 (GMT)
- And it's not "Windows 1.01 DR5" it's "Windows 1.0 DR5" --LilShootDawg (talk) 20:00, 9 November 2018 (GMT)
- It's lossless compression: making an image smaller without quality loss. For example, I convert my files from 24-bit RGB with 8-bit alpha channel to a specific indexed palette. MarioMario456 (talk) 18:13, 10 November 2018 (GMT)
- Too [censored] bad the file is double digits. It's not gonna [censored] crash the server. --LilShootDawg (talk) 01:05, 11 November 2018 (GMT)

A couple of notes regarding your screenshots[edit source]
- You seem to be converting 16-color VGA screenshots to a "proper palette." The VGA 640x480 mode supports 16 simultaneous colors chosen from a much larger palette (262,144 colors in total), therefore there is absolutely nothing "improper" or wrong with their palletes. Considering that all these screenshots have been taken from emulators, it's more than likely that it would have looked exactly the same on real hardware. In general, the emulator output should be used instead of the source files (if any), since that is closer to, if not the exact same as what most people ended up seeing in the end.
- Please consider taking screenshots of clean install VMs. A desktop screenshot with applications that haven't come with the operating system doesn't look as authentic as a similar screenshot of a clean copy. Also, you appear to be registering your VMs with "YouTube" as the company name, which may look like an advertisement. Lastly, please note that 1024x600 is below the minimum resolution of 1024x768 on operating systems that support it.

- 1024x768 is above my laptop screen's resolution of 1024x600. So no. For the company name, I'll remove it. MarioMario456 (talk) 15:53, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
- Also, I need a modern browser and updated apps on my VMs, the Internet is a human right. MarioMario456 (talk) 15:55, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
- No, I never said that you can't use your existing VMs for your personal needs, but screenshots of such VMs are not appropriate for this site. BetaWiki is not a desktop screenshot contest. You can't expect a 1920's car refitted with a modern electric engine and an entertainment system to be admitted to a car museum either. --Ryuzaki (talk | contribs) 08:55, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
- I can change the "registered to" in Windows 9x/NT VMs with a registry edit, but in x86-16 Windows it seems to be hardcoded into the system files, so it needs hexediting. MarioMario456 (talk) 16:27, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
- "Also, I need a modern browser and updated apps on my VMs, the Internet is a human right." You don't need apps for VMs that you install then delete. Also why would you browse the internet in a VM. Just use your own host. --LilShootDawg (talk) 20:13, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
- So I don't need to mount updates and stuff I want onto my host. For example, the unofficial Windows 98SE SP3.64 (it includes all the official updates and additional tools (optional), since the Windows Update v4 website used to install updates in Windows 98/ME website was shut down in 2010).
