Ubuntu Kylin is the official Chinese version of Ubuntu that is targeted to the said country's market. It has been described as a "loose continuation of Kylin OS" by Canonical Ltd and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. Features that are not included in its international counterpart are present, such as Chinese input methods, Chinese calendars, a weather indicator, online music search from the Dash, and WPS Office being the default office suite instead of LibreOffice.

Like Ubuntu, its versions are named after different adjectives and animals in alphabetical order and usually release on April and October.
