Just Asking[edit source]

Does Redlock work in this build or do we have to make an arm version? NitroGD 18:07, 19 May 2023 (UTC)

Seems to be x86-only, but as this is open-source, somebody may get it compiled for ARM. Windows logo (2003).svg Bob2204 Arrow.png Click here to begin. Or here. Arrow2.png Talk - 18:11, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
Oh. NitroGD 18:11, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
It sorta works, but for best results you'll need to compile shsxs.dll for ARM. Else Task Manager will be blank. Here's an image of the working Task Manager. Xeno (talk) 11:51, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

Can we install this on QEMU patched to run Windows RT, if yes, can we have a guide?[edit source]

I'm curious to see if it does. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:4802:1ca1:2910:f8a9:228d:7f33:abda (talkcontribs)

It would require a custom HAL extension for the ARM generic timers (and possibly a DMA controller). 2.102.38.102 11:45, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Maybe transplant some stuff from Windows 8 build 8330 (fbl_woa) which boots in QEMU? --20.76.33.135 10:24, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
I haven't even attempted that yet. —— This newly signed comment was added by Windows logo (2012).svg Lazytown Sportacus (LazytownSpo4015)Talk page 13:08, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

Surface Pro 1?[edit source]

I know that you can run this from the Surface RT (original Surface), but can you run it on the Surface Pro 1? TechActivate 781 (talk) 14:56, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

The Surface Pro 1 uses x86, while the build was designed for ARM, so no, you can't run this build on the Surface Pro 1. NaraInsider1694 (talk) 15:28, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Why does this build have non working DWM[edit source]

Why does DWM not work? Shams1917 (talk) 18:54, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Because of the lack of available LDDM drivers that support this build. 92.18.242.224 18:58, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
you think this is a longhorn build? No, later builds of Longhorn/Vista have adopted WDDM, the new standard that was also used in this Windows 8 build. NaraInsider1694 (talk) 23:05, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
True. I got confused because nvidia's NT kernel mode display driver (the armv7 one for tegra too) was at win8 time (and probably still is) named nvlddmkm.sys. 92.18.242.224 23:16, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

QEMU black screen[edit source]

I tried to run this build using QEMU 6.2.0 patched for Windows RT, however I only get a display output on the Windows Boot Manager when I don't have test signing enabled. When it's enabled, it just freezes after the BIOS/UEFI splash screen, meaning I can't even press F8 to load the boot options. I tried various settings from different amounts of RAM to different CPUs to different GPUs, and even swapped the binaries between 8061 and 8129, with no change whatsoever. Any help? AlfCraft07 20:24, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

No problem anymore. I fixed the issues with a preconfigured QEMU image for build 8061 downloaded off of the Internet Archive. AlfCraft07 22:18, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
