Talk:Windows 8 build 7978

About winload.efi[edit source]

How I need to patch winload.efi to boot Windows 8 Build 7978 on some AVX processors? 91.213.33.105 (talk) 16:43, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

Does 7978 even support UEFI boot in the first place? --Ryuzaki (talk | contribs) 17:06, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
Yes, even the 7850 was first known build to introduce (or reintroduce as the Windows Vista x86 betas have 32-bit UEFI support) 32-bit UEFI support. 91.213.33.105 (talk) 17:11, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

You need to use IDA. NaraInsider1694 (talk) 09:52, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for suggesting me to use IDA (Interactive Disassembler), but any video(s) on how to patch winload? —— This newly signed comment was added by Windows logo (2006).svg Lazytown Sportacus (LazytownSpo4015)Talk page 10:51, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
I couldn't find any videos on how to patch winload, so unfortunately you have to do it yourself. NaraInsider1694 (talk) 10:57, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
Oh, and also, i tried to use HxD to open winload, and replacing 0F20E083C8200F22E00F20C00D000000800F22C0 at offsets A042-A055 to B8200600000F22E0B8130000800F22C090909090 but booting with hex-modified winload gave me an error that the checksum doesn't match. I attempted once. —— This newly signed comment was added by Windows logo (2006).svg Lazytown Sportacus (LazytownSpo4015)Talk page 12:04, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
