OS/2 Warp 4 build 9.012 is an alpha build of OS/2 Warp 4, which was uploaded to BetaArchive on 1 February 2014.[1] This build reports the version as 9.99 and includes the icons seen in the RTM release, as well as having an updated UI in some places. The lock screen background has been removed and now only opens a window asking the user to enter the password to unlock the computer. It has been mislabeled as 9.014 and 9.016 and is internally referred to as 8.239 in the OS2KRNLI file.

This build is the earliest build of OS/2 to have WarpCenter, which is present in the form of an addon, though Launchpad is still the default shell. Its installer is run during the first boot. WarpCenter, in some places, refers to itself as Lotus SmartCenter.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • The default wallpaper has been changed to the one seen in the final release build.
  • When opening a game, a window FLC/FLI Animation opens up, showing an animated intro for each game.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • During setup, the system will ask to insert a non-existent floppy disk. This can be safely skipped.
