Mac OS X Puma build 5D15 is the first beta build of Mac OS X Puma 10.1. This build is commonly mislabeled as build 5G15 from many sources. This mislabel might have originated from CNET.[1]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Setup[edit | edit source]

After a successful installation, the seconds before the restart now count in 1 second intervals instead of 5.

Out-of-box experience[edit | edit source]

  • The text about Apple's privacy in the Registration part of the OOBE has been shortened from "We want you to know that Apple takes your privacy very seriously." to "Apple takes your privacy very seriously."
  • EarthLink has been added as an option to the "Get Internet Ready" section.
  • The iTools page has been added. After setting up an internet connection, the user is prompted to either create an iTools account, login to their existing one, or skip using iTools entirely.

Finder[edit | edit source]

  • iDisk and Burn have been added to the toolbar.
  • In the "About This Mac" dialog, the user must now click on the version number in order to view the build string.

AirPort[edit | edit source]

This build introduces support for AirPort. As such, the AirPort Setup Assistant and AirPort Admin Utility applications have been added.

System Preferences[edit | edit source]

  • Items in System Preferences are now organized into categories. These include Personal, Hardware, Internet & Network, and System.
  • The "Monitors" panel has been renamed to "Displays".

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

The kernel was updated to version 1.4.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • Disk Utility does not function properly, as the options on the side do not work. This causes the application to display "Select a button first!" instead.
  • "Get Mac OS X Software..." does nothing.
