Internet Explorer 4.0 build 1056 is a pre-alpha "Nashville Plus Pack" build of Internet Explorer 4. It was originally leaked by the warez group CBC in April 1996 (although mislabeled as build 1055), and was later found again and shared by BetaArchive user The Distractor on 3 February 2014.[1]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • Installing the Plus Pack will replace the normal Explorer interface with a prototypical version of the Web View.
  • Internet Explorer has an updated interface that includes a scrolling banner when loading pages, containing an image of the Internet Explorer icon kicking Mozilla's mascot, jabbing at the competition between Internet Explorer and Netscape at the time. However, it is rather unstable and may crash upon accessing webpages; moreso if installed on the RTM build of Windows 95.
  • Adds Internet Mail and News.
  • Adds two new applets to the Control Panel: Web Server and Conferencing.
  • The themes from Microsoft Plus! 95 are still included, but they aren't installed by default and must be selected in the Custom Installation option.
