Windows 95 build 950 r-6 (also known as 950.6) is the official RTM build of Windows 95. It would become the first official release in Microsoft's line of 16/32-bit hybrid operating systems, continuing all the way up to Windows Me.
Included applications[edit | edit source]
- Microsoft Network (MSN)
- Internet Explorer 1.0 (on OEM versions only)
- ScanDisk
Installation[edit | edit source]
This build can be installed from CD or 3.5-inch floppies. The retail CD versions of this build are not bootable and require a Windows 95 boot floppy with a hard drive partitioned and formatted before the installation (bootable CDs were not common, and the El Torito standard was too new by Windows 95's release). Some OEM CD versions might be bootable and be able to partition and format a hard drive.
