Windows 95 build 950 r-6 (also known as 950.6) is the official RTM build of Windows 95. It would become the first official release in Microsoft's line of 16/32-bit hybrid operating systems, continuing all the way up to Windows Me. It was released to manufacturing on 14 July 1995 and was generally made available on 24 August 1995.

Installation[edit | edit source]

This build can be installed from CD, 3.5-inch or 5.25-inch floppies. The retail CD versions of this build are not bootable and require a Windows 95 boot floppy with a hard drive partitioned and formatted before the installation (bootable CDs were not common, and the El Torito standard was too new by Windows 95's release). Some OEM CD versions might be bootable and be able to partition and format a hard drive. The 5.25-inch floppy version is only available as upgrade.
