iOS 17.1 build 21B5045h is the official Beta 1 release of iOS 17.1, which was released to Apple developers on 27 September 2023, then to public beta testers on the next day.[1][2]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • Apple Music has a new "Favorites" feature for songs, albums, playlists, and artists saved in the user's library.[3] This replaces the previous "Love" system.
  • Playlists have received several enhancements in Apple Music, such as new default cover art options and song recommendations.
  • Out of range AirDrop transfers can now be completed over a cellular connection or Wi-Fi.
  • A new toggle for extending wallpapers has been added to the Lock Screen editor.
  • Specific albums can now be selected for the Photo Shuffle Lock Screen style.[4]
  • A bug which would hide custom ringtones and text tones has been fixed.
  • The new ringtones and text tones from iOS 17.0 RTM have been removed. This was a temporary change that would be reverted in Beta 2.
  • The Dynamic Island flashlight indicator, previously exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models, is now available on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 models.
  • Reachability on Dynamic Island devices will now display a solid black background, instead of a blurred view of the user's wallpaper.[5]
  • A bug in the Podcasts app which affected full-screen chapter artwork has been fixed.[6]
  • Support for UK bank accounts has been added to the Wallet app.
  • Support for the Nintendo Switch N64 controller has been added.
