Microsoft Emulator is a hypervisor based on Hyper-V technologies, intended to emulate special variants of Windows such as Windows 10X or the HoloLens 2 firmware.
Unlike other hypervisors, it does not rely on an ISO file to install the guest operating system. Instead, it uses "emulator images", which are just VHDX files downloaded from the Microsoft Store servers or an internal server for internal operating systems.[a]
