Windows XP Professional x64 Edition build 3599 is the earliest known build of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. The registry hives for this build are present in the Windows Server 2003 source code.
This build is a private compile built by Dave Cutler, the primary architect of Windows NT, who led development of Windows on AMD64, the 64-bit extension to the x86 architecture developed by AMD. At the time, AMD64 builds of Windows were only run under the AMD SimNow emulator as the team would not receive a physical machine to test on until February 2002,[1] one month after the build had been compiled.
