New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Features[edit | edit source]

The following features and changes introduced previously in client builds have been ported to Windows Server, albeit being disabled by default:

  • The redesigned taskbar thumbnail previews with new hover and switch animations (can be activated manually by enabling the 29532725 velocity staging key)
  • The Administrator protection for Admin Approval Mode (can be activated manually by enabling the 45172197 and 48433719 velocity staging keys, and then setting the "UAC: Configure type of Admin Approval Mode" policy under Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options to "Admin Approval Mode with Administrator protection")
  • The SimSun-ExtG font which support CJK Unified Ideographs Extensions G, H and I.

Security[edit | edit source]

A preview of the new Security Baseline feature has been introduced.[1] It contains over 350 pre-configured Windows security settings that support best practices recommended by Microsoft and industry standards. Users can apply these baselines for individual machines via the OSConfig PowerShell module.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

Fixed an issue that was causing a fatal error when generalizing images via Sysprep in build 26280.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • This build is incorrectly labeled as "Windows 11" in Windows Update.
  • A fatal error may occur when generalizing images via Sysprep.
  • A blank option may appear on the Privacy & security page in the Settings app, where if clicked on it would crash the Settings app with the 0xc000027b exception code.
  • Archiving eventlogs with wevtutil al command may cause the Windows Event Log service to crash, and the archive operation to fail.
  • Upgrading to this build from Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022 may fail with several intermittent upgrade failures.
  • Upgrading to this build on devices with System Guard Secure Launch/DRTM code path enabled may fail due to unknown reasons.
