Windows Server 2022 build 20206 is a preview build of Windows Server 2022 released on 2 September 2020 along with its client counterpart.
- Improvements to File Services and the SMB 3.11 protocol. It now supports the AES-256-GCM and AES-256-CCM cryptographic suites. You can now also copy files over SMB with compression using the
Robocopy /compress
and Xcopy /compress
commands. RDMA encryption was also added as well.
- Added east-west encryption.
- Improvements to Storage Migration Services. It now supports migrating data to a server configured with Azure File Sync cloud tiering.
- These features now come bundled with the operating system: Cluster, Samba migration support, Local security principal migration, and Inter-network migration, which were backported to Windows Server 2019.
