Windows Server 2022 build 20201 is the first official preview build of Windows Server 2022 released on 26 August 2020 along with its client counterpart. As a preview build of a long-term servicing channel (LTSC) release, it also includes the full desktop experience.

- SMB now supports AES-256 Encryption.
- Increased performance when using SMB encryption or signing with SMB Direct with RDMA enabled network cards.
- SMB now has the ability to do compression to improve network performance.
