Windows Server 2008 build 6001.16406 is a build of Windows Server 2008. Originally, the IA-64 edition of this build was lost, but was eventually found and uploaded to BetaArchive on 4 September 2021. It is notably the earliest known server build to be based on the codebase for Windows Vista SP1 and also it drops the Windows XP sound scheme and it was replaced with its client counterpart's sound scheme.
Changes[edit | edit source]
- Server Manager received several new icons. In addition, the UI was updated slightly.
- The icon for Windows Update has been changed to that first seen in Windows Vista build 5840.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- When upgrading from build 5728 with Aero theme activated, not only does it revert to the Windows Classic theme, but it also appears as thick as set in the Windows Basic theme.
