Windows Server 2008 build 5284 is a build of Windows Server 2008.
Installation[edit | edit source]
This build is installed by using a server product key on the client version's installation media. On the "Media Center DVD Take Home Launcher", select Run setup manually since the launcher only has client SKUs as the options.
Changes[edit | edit source]
- The default background color was changed from gray back to the shade of blue used in Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows Server 2003.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Installation[edit | edit source]
- On some machines, this build cannot be upgraded to due to a bug in the setup component file copy process.
- The
$OEM$folder (containing eHome-specific customizations) found within thesourcesdirectory must be removed from the image before installation due to a bug in the way Setup handles directory paths with special characters, resulting in an invalid parameter error. - The hard drive must be partitioned through the Diskpart utility (and the system restarted) first before this build can be installed.
Shutdown[edit | edit source]
Like in build 5270, the shutdown sound is cut off during playback.
