Changes[edit | edit source]
- Redesigned the appearance of the graphical part of setup to be similar to the one seen in later builds of the client counterpart.
- The kernel font was changed to Lucida Console, replacing the font used in Windows 2000.
- The alternative
AUTOCHK
screen (can be invoked by adding/SOS
toboot.ini
) now uses Windows XP branding, notably with the XP being in red instead of white in later builds. - This is the very first build to introduce the Windows Welcome Music, also known as
title.wma
, however, because the out of box experience is bypassed in server builds, the file goes unused. But it can be found inC:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\images
. - Added the
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated.
(0xF4
) bugcheck code, which would later be renamed toCRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
.
