Windows Phone 7.8 build 8858 is a build of Windows Phone 7. This build backported UI enhancements and updates from Windows Phone 8 such as resizable Live Tiles, new color schemes, icons and boot screen. This is the last major feature update for Windows Phone 7 as the shift to the NT kernel and new hardware requirements made updating phones running the operating system incapable of running later versions of the operating system. The build is compiled on November 05, 2012, and later rolled out onto phones as early as January 31, 2013. The SDK for the version was released to developers 11 days earlier on January 22.
