Windows Neptune build 5056 is a fake build of the Neptune project, based on build 5111. There are no visible changes from the latter, apart from the version number change in most files. Because of this change, all digital signatures for files within the I386
directory are invalid (with the sole exception of the components found within DRIVER.CAB
, which are identical to the aforementioned build), requiring the user to click on Yes on all dialogs during the driver installation/component registration phase, and certain components such as the Java Virtual Machine will fail to properly register.
The fake build was first posted to a now-closed forum named ReleaseArchive on 27 December 2015 in an attempt to troll its members,[1] and was later reposted to BetaArchive on 30 December 2015 by a user who claimed to have received the build from a "close friend", and that the disc was being mailed to them.[2]
