Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition build 419.1 is the official RTM build of Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition, which was released on 16 June 1998[1].

Changes from Beta 2[edit | edit source]

  • This build drops the GINA design found in Windows NT 4.0 in favor of the variant seen in Beta 2 builds of Windows 2000.
  • The copyright dates of winver.exe has been updated from 1981-1997 to 1981-1998 for Microsoft and from 1990-1997 to 1990-1998 for Citrix.

Setup[edit | edit source]

  • The user no longer needs to read the whole EULA to continue with setup, so it can continue just by pressing F8.
  • An option to install Internet Explorer 4 has been added to the graphical part.

Internet Explorer[edit | edit source]

This build has Internet Explorer 2 pre-installed, while Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1a, included with the installation files, is optional. However, this build of Terminal Server Edition is incompatible with Active Desktop and trying to install that component results in an unresponsive shell.

The Japanese language variant comes with Internet Explorer 3 pre-installed instead, but only ships optionally with Internet Explorer 4.0.
