Windows NT 3.51 build 1057.1 (Japanese Release Candidate) is a pre-release localization build of Windows NT 3.51, which was uploaded to the Chinese website BetaWorld on 17 February 2022.[1] It was later shared on 28 October 2024.
Unlike other international builds at the time, the timebomb in this build works properly and does not allow login after expiration.
The timebomb is implemented in winlogon.exe. There is an additional check to prevent a user from setting the date back after the timebomb has expired; before the date check it will check for a registry entry HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon!BetaExpire (REG_DWORD) - if this value is set to 1 (which is done before showing the expiry message box) then the timebomb will always be considered as expired.
